Jatropha Africa Limited (“JA”) is Ghanaian registered company with principal objective of JA is to cultivate non-food biofuel feedstock jatropha nuts for the extraction of oil which is then refined into biodiesel fuel. This strain known as JA Improved Seed produces high seed yields and an early first harvest. The seeds of the Jatropha Curcus plant have high vegetable oil content and grow on land not suitable for the production of food. This characteristic makes Jatropha more acceptable to bio-diesel users, as there cannot be criticism that the use of land for biodiesel purposes is restricting the use of the land for producing food. We worked closely with University of Greenwich in United Kingdom to get it immune to a disease which affects jatropha call ‘Mosiac’. JA holds agricultural land rights, under a lease of lands, near to the centre of the country, in the Bono East Region of Ghana.
Jatropha Africa Limited has added short rotational crops to its project to make it more integrated and boost cash flow.
